AllThingsD reports that the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has granted Apple a $30 million contract to supply its students with iPads. The deal, which was authorized in a 6-0 vote by the district?s school board, will find Apple providing nearly 35,000 iPads to 47 LAUSD schools for around $678 per device. The price is above the retail, but will come preloaded with a range of educational software. This contract is a big win for Apple as LAUSD is the nation?s second-largest school system.? Read more
